Department Of Anatomy
The Human Anatomy is the subject which is the most important subject taught in MBBS and BDS in Medical Colleges and Medical Universities which deals with study of the internal and the external structures of a human i.e. cells, tissues, organs, and systems. The word Anatomy is derived from Greek language, Ana means apart and Tome to cut meaning to cut apart as it was studied previously by dissecting human and animal bodies macroscopically and microscopically. Branches of Anatomy are Gross Anatomy, Histology, and Embryology.
At Karachi Institute of Medical Sciences, we teach Anatomy in Large interactive group discussions classes (Lectures), Small group discussion classes (Demonstrations) and by practicals of Histology.
Department of Anatomy at Karachi Institute of Medical sciences Karachi is well equipped with the mannequins, plastic models of Anatomy and Embryology and slides of Histology. The subject of Anatomy at Karachi Institute of Medical Sciences Karachi is taught by highly qualified Faculty. Therefore learning Anatomy is interesting activity here at KIMS.

The faculty of Anatomy is highly qualified and experienced as we have acquired best of teachers of Anatomy from the city. The Department of Anatomy has two Professors, one Associate Professor, Two Assistant Professors and four experienced lecturers.
Prof Dr Ghulam Mujtaba
HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
Prof Dr Ghulam Mujtaba is a graduate of Sindh Medical College Karachi and passed MBBS in 1987. He passed M.Phil Anatomy in 2008 from Basic Medical Sciences Institute, Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center Karachi. Prof Dr Ghulam Mujtaba is serving Karachi Institute of Medical Science Karachi as the Head of Department of Anatomy since 2016. He has a total of 28 year experience of teaching of subject of Anatomy at various Medical colleges e.g. Sindh Medical College Karachi, Dow Medical College, Dow University of Health Sciences Karachi and Karachi Institute of Medical Sciences Karachi.
